Concert Fokker organ | 2022-10-09, 11.00 hours | Small Hall - Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Amsterdam

In Memoriam Adriaan Fokker

On September 24, 1972 (50 years ago), Adriaan Fokker, professor of physics at Leiden University and spiritual father of the organ (with not the usual twelve but thirty-one notes per octave), passed away. His enthusiasm for this 31-tone system inspired several composers in the Netherlands in the 1950s, including Paul Christiaan van Westering, who was also the first organist of the Fokker organ. Ere Lievonen, the current first organist of the Fokker organ, pays tribute to Fokker, who himself, as an amateur composer, left a modest oeuvre to promote his unique instrument.

You can order tickets at the box office of the Muziekgebouw.
