Concert Fokker organ | 2022-09-18, 11.00 hours | Small Hall - Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Amsterdam

Distorted Reality

Distorted Reality is a continuous phenomenon in the microtonal world of Ensemble SCALA. The music in this program varies enormously: from post minimal (Billy Alves), via uncompromisingly oriental (Giacinto Scelsi) to angular and straight (Joke Kegel). Add to this Danny de Graan's new work, Distorted Reality, which moves between modernistic and consonant. What connects all these works are the microscopic intervals, far away from the familiar classical keys. Every melody and every harmony transforms under the pressure of the prism of microtonality into a gossamer rainbow of color and sound that invites a new listening attitude.
