March 17, 2013 | Mikko Perkola, viola da gamba & Ere Lievonen, Fokker organConcert Fokker organ | 2013-03-17, 11.00 hours | Small Hall - Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, AmsterdamFinlandia A special concert with two Finnish performers: Mikko Perkola on the viola da gamba and Ere Lievonen on the 31-tone Fokker organ. Together they cause a gentle north wind through the Small Hall of the Muziekgebouw with their unique combination of instruments tuned in meantone. Premieres of among others the versatile Finnish composer Juhani Nuorvala make this concert to a fresh musical event. Gamba Player Perkola and organist Lievonen are both specialists in the field of old and contemporary music, which is reflected in the varied program. Historical works and newly written compositions sound easily after the other. As a counterpart in the program, the Italian composer Lucio Garau (1959) will provide warm-blooded sounds to the concert with his latest work for viola da gamba and Fokker organ. Garau writes about his premiere piece as follows: "I am always astonished when I look at the Nature, seems to me so incredible that life forms from very different time live toghether. The composition is a sort of hommage to Charles Darwin." Tickets can be reserved at the Muziekgebouw. The tickets include a drink after the concert in the Zouthaven restaurant of the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.
