Kurtág by organ ears
During the multi-day Kurtág Festival, organist Ere Lievonen will play works by György Kurtág and some other Hungarian composers, such as György Ligeti, on the 31-tone organ and piano. The organ plays only a supporting role in György Kurtág's oeuvre. That is quite striking, for a composer who adores Bach and has written no fewer than nine books with Játékok ("games") for piano. With this adventurous program organist Ere Lievonen nevertheless proves that the historic Fokker organ can open a special and valuable perspective on Kurtág.
